The Homeland Security Department ran a mock Internet attack last week. The results are due out this summer.

サイバー軍事演習、というわけだ。APは「Cyber Storm作戦」なんて呼んでる。国内のインターネットが反グローバリズムの活動家やら違法なハッカーやらブロガーやらに対してどう対処すればいいかを演習しよう、というわけだ。

ブロガー？

ブロガーも「仮想敵」なのか？

「サイバー軍事演習」みたいなものは、90年代から何度も行われてきたらしい。ちょっとぐぐればいくつもニュースが出てくる。要するに、政府機関やインターネットのインフラなんかへのサイバーテロへの対策みたいなやつだろう。

ブロガーもそういう勢力といっしょくたにされたのか？と思ったら、どうもちょっと毛色がちがうらしい。

The worldwide simulation challenged government officials and industry executives to respond to deliberate misinformation campaigns and activist calls by Internet bloggers, online diarists whose ''Web logs'' include political rantings and musings about current events.

ブロガーによる偽情報の流布や宣伝なんかへの対応、ということか。なるほどこれならブロガーも充分脅威になりうる。実際、

Some mock attacks were aimed at causing a ''significant cyber disruption'' that could seriously damage energy, transportation, and health care industries and undermine public confidence, said George Foresman, an undersecretary at the Homeland Security Department.

なんてとこをみると、悪意のある風評はけっこうな影響を及ぼしうるようだ。航空機を狙ったテロが実施される、なんてデマが流されれば乗客激減で経営危機、みたいなことだろうか。しかし「犯人」が誰かによって、政府が何をすべきかは変わってくる。まあそりゃそうだろう。

こういう「セキュリティ」もあるんだねぇ。
